While primarily designed as a 'slalom course', there is a multitude of spots which allow for various 'play' maneuvers. The best of these is simply called "the big drop", and is the site for one stop on the NOWR (National Organization of Whitewater Rodeos) tour. Some of the top rodeo boaters from across the nation (and growing number of local boaters as well) strut their stuff to appreciative crowds.
The course relies heavily on volunteers to maintain the course and provide trained safety personnel for all releases. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the Wausau Kayak/Canoe Corporation to ensure the continued operation of this excellent facility.
