Meet on
the south side of the bridge on the Beech Fork River approximately
1 mile south of St. Joseph Catholic Church on US Hwy 31E in
Bardstown, Ky., on Saturday, May 16th at 9:00 a.m.
Directions from Louisville:
Go south on I-65 to the Clermont/Bardstown exit #112. Take a Left
on KY Hwy 245 and go approximately 15.5 miles to US Hwy 31E. Turn
right and head south on US Hwy 31E and go approximately 1.2 miles
to the old Court House. Keep right and go approximately ¼ mile
until you see St. Joseph Catholic Church on your right. Take the
left to continue on US Hwy 31E and go approximately 1 mile. We will
meet on the other side of the bridge after you cross the Beechfork
River.
Directions from Elizabethtown:
Get on the Bluegrass Parkway and head east. Take your first
Bardstown exit and take a left at the top of the ramp. Go 1 mile
and we will be meeting just before the bridge over the Beechfork
River on the left hand side.
Directions from Lexington:
Get on the Bluegrass Parkway and head west. Take your second
Bardstown exit and take a right at the top of the ramp. Go 1 mile
and we will be meeting just before the bridge over the Beechfork
River on the left hand side.
What to expect:
We will be putting on the river at approximately 9:00 AM. Please
allow enough time to sign-in and get the canoes organized. Bring
your own canoe if you want or we will have some available there for
you to use. We will paddle down river picking up tires and trash
along the river banks, so be ready to get a little dirty. Trash
bags and gloves will be provided, but it never hurts to bring
extra. We will be taking out on private property, thanks to the
generosity of the Hite family for allowing us access to their land.
Some refreshments will be available before and after the pickup,
but feel free to bring your own. The entire run should take about 4
hours. Keep checking the Bardstown Boaters website,
www.bardstownboaters.com for more information.
We appreciate your support!
